Don’t miss “A Rising Tide,” which will be screened during this special event to benefit Tech Exchange.
A Rising Tide, a documentary by Cheryl Fabio, explores homelessness through the perspectives of children, families, and service providers. Join us for a free screening followed by a panel led by government and non-profit leaders discussing progress and solutions in poverty and housing. Join us for a screening of “A Rising Tide,” a poignant documentary by local filmmaker Cheryl Fabio. Explore the challenges of homelessness and housing insecurity in Alameda County through the stories of children, families, and service providers. Witness how rising rent burdens force working families into homelessness, as depicted by medical professionals in the film. Recognized for its profound impact, “A Rising Tide” has garnered acclaim as an official selection at both the 2023 Oakland International Film Festival and the 2024 African American Women in Cinema Film Festival. Following the screening, seize the opportunity to engage in a thought-provoking Q&A session with the filmmaker herself. No registration is required—simply join us for an evening of insightful storytelling and community discussion.
Alameda County Housing and Community Development is sponsoring a viewing of “A Rising Tide” Documentary , the impact of homelessness on our county and panel Discussion.   If you haven’t seen the award-winning documentary created by East Bay native Cheryl Fabio, it is more than just a look at homelessness in Alameda County, but shows us the experience of being unhoused through the eyes of children, their families, and the helping industry that has developed from the housing crisis. The film portrays the experiences, strategies and outcomes of people struggling with finding a place to call home in our community. At our event we will screening a number of excerpts of this documentary on homelessness, each of which will be following by a discussion on poverty and housing.
