Sarah Webster Fabio’s Social Justice is hosting a film premiere, “A Rising Tide,” to uplift Black folks’ voices, issues, and concerns. This project focuses on Alameda County. This vital film discusses what’s swept under the rug, overlooked, ignored, and increasingly silenced over decades. The project focuses on children and families who are housing insecure. It will generate dialogue, increase resources, and it can mobilize our community to eradicate this tragedy. We will bring together policymakers, advocates, residents, and a range of community stakeholders, all concerned with and possessing the collective expertise that can result in affordable housing opportunities. These are the people we look to for solutions in addressing this crisis.

We are confident of the impact “A Rising Tide” will have as it confronts, challenges, and changes the false and limited narrative of this growing homelessness. The film is a call to action that empowers a powerful and more profound understanding of keeping unhoused children and their families at the center. Families and regional experts engage “the powers that be” through a wide range of screenings that encourage multi-perspective discussions and expanded opportunities for sharing resources that can change the narrative and get us to the economic and social inequities that will end homelessness.
